This is a Chaparral "Kaibab" that I bought recently. There were some things about it that I did not care for, so I reworked it a bit..: )

First I slimmed the last 12 inches of limbs to get rid of a little handshock and to help with performance. This bow came tillered for someone shooting 3 fingers under so I gave it a 3/16 positive tiller that works better for my style of shooting. The shelf on the bow was a little high for me, so I lowered it as much as I could without getting into adding wood to the riser as this is a very small riser..It works fine for me now.Since this was a lite physical weight bow I said what the heck, and cut the bow in half to add a Robertson hinge to make the Kaibab into a 2 piece takedown bow and to add a little weight to it.While it was sawn in half  I thought, this would be a good time to try and get the riser weight up some. After adding about 7 onces of lead to the dymondwood riser the bow comes in at a nice 1 pound 10 onces with the extra weight right in the hand.
I lost a little less than 2 lbs of weight during the modifications but gained between 4 to 6 ftps with the same arrows. The bow shoots a lot better for me now.

After about 8 hours of tinkering,  this bow will now see use in the  woods this fall instead of taking up space in my corner during hunting season. It's extra weight gives the bow a nice feel in the hand and makes shooting it a pleasure. All in all, I am well pleased with how my modifications on the bow worked out.

As my late grandmother used to tell me when things did not go my way,
"When life hands you a lemon, take it with a smile, give it a little squeeze and make yourself some nice lemonade"   lol
