HOGS
Hog hunting is new to us. In North Carolina there are only a few hogs in the western part of the state.  Hogs are also clasified as a game animal and as such have a limited season.  South Carolina, on the other hand is loaded with hogs around the coastal area.  On  private land they are a pest and can be hunted year round.  Since it is only a 3 hour drive, we thought maybe they could use some help!  First, we went to a very nice place called Roblysneck Trophy Club  for a paid hunt. You will not find better people, lodging or food anywhere. We all got a pig and the hog hunting fever that comes with it.  Although, this was a great place, you are required to hunt from fixed stands over bait.  We would rather do our own scouting and maybe a little stalking with a bow.  This year we have been scouting out some 'bow only' public lands and come October, will be in the swamps with the hogs. ( and snakes and gators )
This was the first pig that I killed.  I shot it with my Contender using a 44mag. barrel.  I took a few more hogs with it last winter but didn't get pictures
This  picture did not come out very well.  It had rained all day and was pretty dark.  This is Bill with his first hog, a sow that weighed about 180lbs

Billys first pig with a bow. Killed while stalking some public land in the S.C. swamps.
My first pig with a bow. and first animal taken while stalking with my longbow. Killed in  S.C. swamps with my buddy Billy.
Bad picture but a big hog. It needed more than a 500lb scale to weigh it! This boar was killed in our good old N.C..First time we ever hunted hogs around home.
Well the South Carolina public land payed off for us after all...
